Flight of the Butterfly

Our annual community summer celebration has "hit" town, so I've been hiding from the crowds by playing in my stamping room! I am SO EXCITED about the new butterfly punch, I can't put it or my flight of the butterfly set down....Here is one card I made today using The flight of the butterfly and inspired by nature stamp sets. I used a stampin sponge to add the color to the background. The cloud was made by cutting a cloud free-hand from a post it note and sticking it to the card prior to sponging the ink. I love the demension given to the butterfly by using snail adhesive in the middle of the butterfly and stampin demensionals under the wings. Images © 1990–2009 Stampin’ Up!

Hostess Appreciation

I held my first annual hostess appreciation July 14th. Here are the 5 cards my guests were able to make. My past hostess also were able to make a 3-D basket using the basket and blooms die and the Big Shot.

These cards were made using the retired sunshine garden simply scrappin' kit and coordinating colors.

Each guest was also entered into a drawing to receive a free stamp set or simply scrappin' kit.

I need to brag a bit!

My youngest daughter, Maren (5) loves to stamp. If we are stamping she will get upset that I make her stop for lunch. She usually uses my scraps and fills every inch of space with stamps. They don't coordinate or follow any specific theme, so when she did the following card, I was very surprised. (All her scrap pieces are on the inside this time!). She chose her colors (more mustard and chocolate chip) and colored the giraffe and happy birthday stamp. She punched a 1" circle for a sun.

However, my oldest daughter, Megan (16) does NOT like to make cards. She will scrapbook here and there, but does not make cards. The other night when she wanted to stay up and stamp I just about fell over. I headed off to bed and when I got up the next morning I found these 2 cards on my stamping table! I think she is rather embarrassed that I keep showing them to everyone! I am planning on sending them into Stampin' Up! for the kid's made cards request.

(She used the new animal stories and circle circus stamp sets) The trees on her 2nd card are made using a chocolate chip marker and the large oval punch. She drew in the grass using a stampin' write marker.

I've been stamping like CRAZY

Some of you may know, my husband recently asked for a divorce...It has thrown me for a loop. For a few weeks, I have been doing what I absolutely have to do and nothing more. But I knew I couldn't continue that way. To get through this rough time, I need to really focus on taking care of myself and part of that is being true to myself and taking time for the things that I really enjoy (riding bike, stamping, and reading). I have spent quite a few hours in my stamp room and browsing stamping sites to get my inspiration back. Here are a few of the cards I have created during my "Taking Care of ME Time"

This next card uses the branch out stamp set that is on the dormant list. I bought this set because I love it. I even bought it after the new catalog came out...It's one that I decided I couldn't live without. I'm glad I bought it!

I'm planning on spending quite a bit more time in my stamp room over the next few weeks before school starts. 411 Stampers Challenge

I was browsing the internet, checking out other SU! demonstrator blogs, and came across a Blog: Stamping 411 with the operators. They had posted a sketch challenge using this template.



I headed down to my stamp room and with my little helpers by my side, came up with the following card:

This card uses the new Autumn Days Stamp set (SU! IBC p. 92) and Wow Flowers stamp set(SU! IBC p. 173). Accessories include Stampin' Write Markers (close to cocoa, always artichoke, rich razzleberry, ruby red, and more mustard), Punches (1" circle, 1 1/4" circle, word window, modern label, and corner rounder), Stampin' Dimensionals, and Autumn Traditions DSP.

New Catalog Open House

I held a new catalog open house on July 2nd. Here are the cards that the guests were able to make.

This first card uses the new in-colors Melon Mambo and Soft Suede. The Stamp Sets used include the new sets Circle Circus (SU! Idea Book and Catalog p. 129) and Teeny Tiny Wishes (SU! IBC p. 145). Accessories include the new modern label punch, 1 1/4 inch circle punch and soft suede polka dot ribbon. (This card was CASED from the July issue of Stampin' Sucess-A demonstrator publication from SU!)




This second card uses The new In-colors Rich Razzleberry and Bermuda Bay. It uses the new level 3 hostess set Kind and Caring Thougths (IBC p 12). Accessories include: Sizzix Top Note Die, Razzleberry Lemonade Designers Series Paper, Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot Ribbon, wide oval punch, and stamping sponges.

It's been awhile

It's been awhile since I've posted on my blog. The end of the school year was crazy, but I survived. I had a busy May, took a breather the first part of June and have been spending some time in my stamping room playing for a few days.

Here is a card that I "CASED". It uses the large flower from the pretties kit, a clear button (w/paper sliver for thread), whisper white card stock and riding hood red card stock. I also used the top note die and big shot for the inside.

Here is another card I "CASED". It uses the tab punch and 1 3/8" circle punch to make the flower. The stem was made using the big shot basket and blooms die, the leaves were made with the 5 petal flower punch.

I have had a few workshops where I have been sharing the re-inker spread technique. To do this technique, you need a line art stamp (like 5th Avenue Floral) and either watercolor or shimmery white card stock. First, stamp your image in versamark. Heat emboss (I used winter white embossing powder). Then you will want to spritz with water until it puddles. Then take 2-3 colors of ink (a few drops on a plastic lid works great) and dip your aqua painter in the ink. Then touch the tip of the inked aqua pen to the puddles of water. The ink will spread and fill in each area of the embossed stamp. Let dry 20-30 minutes or dry with heat tool. Cut out the image and attach to your card.
