I'm Back!

I know it's been quite awhile since I posted on my blog. Life sure goes fast. I'm settling into my new job, which there is NEVER enough time at work to get everything done that needs to be done there. I've also survived my first two holidays being divorced. Thanksgiving was hard, but Christmas was better.

I spent all day yesterday stamping while two of my friends scrapbooked. I had a wonderful day just stamping, without the pressure of "having to come up with great ideas" for a workshop and guess what....I have some GREAT cards for upcoming workshops.

Tomorrow, I leave for the weekend with a group of girls to go "crafting" all weekend. Of course, I'll be stamping. I've been "blurfing" all night to get inspiration for my weekend of stamping. I'm hoping to be able to post some pictures after the weekend, so check back soon.

Hope you have a great 2010!
Kris

My Digital Studio

I have been playing with SU!'s new My Digital Studio. This program is AWESOME! I can't believe how easy it is to create cards, calendars, and scrapbook pages, videos, slide shows, etc. It is amazing how much a person can do with My digital studio. Here are a few of the cards that I've created this week:

This last card was "CASED" from one that I received at a swap. (I apologize to the creator, I cannot find the original card to give you credit, if it is yours let me know and I will give you credit here).

If you would like to order My Digital Studio (MDS) or would like to "play" with it, please contact me today. Hostesses who host a part of $400 or more in the month of November have the opportunity to get MDS for 50% off!

Monthly Card Club

My monthly card club started again in September. Card club members receive extra benefits for their parties which include: everyone makes 4 projects, monthly "club member" specials, guaranteed a minimum of a level 1 hostess set and $15 in free products. Here are the cards we made in September:

See Oct 4th post for directions on how to make this card.

This card uses the Autumn Days stamp set (IBC p. 92); chocolate chip, old olive, dusty durango, crushed curry, and soft suede. To get the 2 pheasants the masking technique was used.

This card uses the new treat cups in the holiday mini. It also uses the sweet centers stamp set. The card was stamped using versamark ink then embossed using black embossing powder.

This card was made using more mustard, always artichoke, soft suede, and rose red.

I'm back

Hi everyone-
Sorry it's been so long since I posted on my blog. Things have been absolutely crazy in my personal life. My recommendation to people would to NOT switch jobs in the middle of a divorce if it can be helped. YIKES! As one of my friends said, "have you looked at the life stressor index? Why don't you just move and get that in this year, too?" But instead, I'm going to refinance my house and finish remodelling it! That means that I need to move my stamping room!! I'm not looking forward to that. Right now, I'm supposed to be packing it up into boxes. But the thought of that is very painful. I'm thinking I might put everything right in my living room instead of packing it away! Because of course, if I pack something away thinking I don't absolutely need that, I'm going to want it for my next creation.

Speaking of creations, I do have a few cards to share. My up, up, up line-Patsy Waggoner, has challenged her downline to a STRIVE challenge. September's challenge was to create 5 cards using the same set. So here are my 5 cards using circle circus:This card used the Stampin' Pastels and sponge daubers to apply color to whisper white card stock. I then used a straight edge and the chalk eraser (included in the stampin' pastels) to create the lines. Colors used were: Tempting Turquoise, Lovely Lilac, and Orchid Opulance.

This card uses the z fold and is created using rich razzleberry, crushed curry, old olive, and soft suede.

This card is created using old olive. I left the modern tag blank to add a sentiment so that I could add it later, depending on the need I had. TIP: Stamp a card that can be used for any purpose and don't add the sentiment. That way when you need a card, you have a blank one that you just add the sentiment and your ready to go.

This card is created using melon mambo, crushed curry, and brilliant blue.

This card is created using certainly celery, brocade blue, rose red, and summer sun. A piece of vellum was attached using snail adhesive under the certainly celery ribbon. The sentiment was stamped on the vellum.

I'm Back From Convention!

Here is a picture of the swaps I made for convention. A great big thanks goes out to my good friend Tammie. Tammie, Trista (Tammie's daughter), my daughters (Megan, Morgan, and Maren), and I did the majority of my 100+ swaps in 2 1/2 hours. All I had left was to punch out and attach the butterflies!
Convention was AWESOME! Can you image 3000+ people who are passionate about stamping and SU! products in one place? On our arrival day, we made our way to the convention center where we were able to pick up our "convention bags". These bags contained 4 stamp sets, a wheel, SU! pen, and SU! pin, as well as all the other convention info we needed. I brought my 100+ swaps and the craziness began. I swapped all of my cards that first day. Many people do some each day, but I decided I wanted to be done swapping on the first day so I could enjoy all the other convention activities.
Of course there were many announcements about upcoming products....Do you want to know what they are? Well, maybe I
could let out a secret...or two....or three.....I don't know which I'm most excited about: My Digital Studio, Build-A-Bear stamps and die cuts, or the Simply Adorned Charms. Of course I was able to see all of these products first hand at convention. Build-A-Bear and Simply Adorned Charms will be available September 1st. The release date of My Digital Studio will be coming soon. If you want to see these products and share them with your friends, contact me today to set up an in home show for you and your friends.

Another card from last weeks stamping marathon

Where did the week go??? It's been a hectic week around here. SU! convention and the county fair in the same week, means the 4-H projects need to be done EARLY because mom can't handle getting ready for a trip and last minute projects! So, even though I've been in my stamp room, it's been to help my 8 year old do her first scrapbook. Let me tell you, it was hard to sit on my hands and let her do her own thing, but I'll post some pictures and you'll be able to see that it's her work...But in the meantime, I came across this picture of when looking for the one of my convention swap and thought I'd post it.

This card was CASED after searching many web-sites last week (I can't remember where I found it)....I will get a picture of my convention swaps up soon.

Flight of the Butterfly III

Here is the last of the butterfly cards I made the other day...This was inspired by a swap I recieved at regionals in Minneapolis that was created by Elaine Mitzel of Menaga, MN. I used very vanilla and kraft card stock; rich razzleberry ink; the big shot Top Note Die and SU! backgrounds 1 texture plate.
Elaine's original card used the five petal flower punch and Heard from the Heart Stamp sets, Ridinghood Red Ink, and Bella Rose DSP.
Check back next week to see what I've come up with for my July Monthly Club Members and Images © 1990–2009 Stampin’ Up!

Flight of the Butterfly II

Here is another card made using the Flight of the Butterfly stamp set. I also textured the card front using a texture plate from SU! backgrounds 1 in the big shot. The colors used in this card are Orchid Opulence and Rich Razzleberry.

Flight of the Butterfly

Our annual community summer celebration has "hit" town, so I've been hiding from the crowds by playing in my stamping room! I am SO EXCITED about the new butterfly punch, I can't put it or my flight of the butterfly set down....Here is one card I made today using The flight of the butterfly and inspired by nature stamp sets. I used a stampin sponge to add the color to the background. The cloud was made by cutting a cloud free-hand from a post it note and sticking it to the card prior to sponging the ink. I love the demension given to the butterfly by using snail adhesive in the middle of the butterfly and stampin demensionals under the wings. Images © 1990–2009 Stampin’ Up!
Check back tomorrow for more cards made with The flight of the butterfly set and butterfly punch!

Hostess Appreciation

I held my first annual hostess appreciation July 14th. Here are the 5 cards my guests were able to make. My past hostess also were able to make a 3-D basket using the basket and blooms die and the Big Shot.
These cards were made using the retired sunshine garden simply scrappin' kit and coordinating colors.
Each guest was also entered into a drawing to receive a free stamp set or simply scrappin' kit.
Congrats to the winners!

I need to brag a bit!

My youngest daughter, Maren (5) loves to stamp. If we are stamping she will get upset that I make her stop for lunch. She usually uses my scraps and fills every inch of space with stamps. They don't coordinate or follow any specific theme, so when she did the following card, I was very surprised. (All her scrap pieces are on the inside this time!). She chose her colors (more mustard and chocolate chip) and colored the giraffe and happy birthday stamp. She punched a 1" circle for a sun.

However, my oldest daughter, Megan (16) does NOT like to make cards. She will scrapbook here and there, but does not make cards. The other night when she wanted to stay up and stamp I just about fell over. I headed off to bed and when I got up the next morning I found these 2 cards on my stamping table! I think she is rather embarrassed that I keep showing them to everyone! I am planning on sending them into Stampin' Up! for the kid's made cards request.
(She used the new animal stories and circle circus stamp sets) The trees on her 2nd card are made using a chocolate chip marker and the large oval punch. She drew in the grass using a stampin' write marker.

I've been stamping like CRAZY

Some of you may know, my husband recently asked for a divorce...It has thrown me for a loop. For a few weeks, I have been doing what I absolutely have to do and nothing more. But I knew I couldn't continue that way. To get through this rough time, I need to really focus on taking care of myself and part of that is being true to myself and taking time for the things that I really enjoy (riding bike, stamping, and reading). I have spent quite a few hours in my stamp room and browsing stamping sites to get my inspiration back. Here are a few of the cards I have created during my "Taking Care of ME Time"

The following card was cased from Dawn Olchefske. You can visit her blog at: http://dostamping.typepad.com/

This next card uses the branch out stamp set that is on the dormant list. I bought this set because I love it. I even bought it after the new catalog came out...It's one that I decided I couldn't live without. I'm glad I bought it!

I thought about spreading these cards out over a few posts, but I decided NOPE, going to share them all at the same time! I'm planning on spending quite a bit more time in my stamp room over the next few weeks before school starts. I also have about 15 cards from our Definitely Diva Swap that I'd love to share with everyone! So keep coming back to check for more card ideas, or better yet, subscribe to my site to be notified when I publish a new post!

411 Stampers Challenge

I was browsing the internet, checking out other SU! demonstrator blogs, and came across a Blog: Stamping 411 with the operators. They had posted a sketch challenge using this template.

I headed down to my stamp room and with my little helpers by my side, came up with the following card:

This card uses the new Autumn Days Stamp set (SU! IBC p. 92) and Wow Flowers stamp set(SU! IBC p. 173). I held a new catalog open house on July 2nd. Here are the cards that the guests were able to make.

This first card uses the new in-colors Melon Mambo and Soft Suede. The Stamp Sets used include the new sets Circle Circus (SU! Idea Book and Catalog p. 129) and Teeny Tiny Wishes (SU! IBC p. 145). Accessories include the new modern label punch, 1 1/4 inch circle punch and soft suede polka dot ribbon. (This card was CASED from the July issue of Stampin' Sucess-A demonstrator publication from SU!)

This second card uses The new In-colors Rich Razzleberry and Bermuda Bay. It uses the new level 3 hostess set Kind and Caring Thougths (IBC p 12). Accessories include: Sizzix Top Note Die, Razzleberry Lemonade Designers Series Paper, Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot Ribbon, wide oval punch, and stamping sponges.

It's been awhile

It's been awhile since I've posted on my blog. The end of the school year was crazy, but I survived. I had a busy May, took a breather the first part of June and have been spending some time in my stamping room playing for a few days.

Here is a card that I "CASED". It uses the large flower from the pretties kit, a clear button (w/paper sliver for thread), whisper white card stock and riding hood red card stock. I also used the top note die and big shot for the inside.

Here is another card I "CASED". It uses the tab punch and 1 3/8" circle punch to make the flower. The stem was made using the big shot basket and blooms die, the leaves were made with the 5 petal flower punch.

I have had a few workshops where I have been sharing the re-inker spread technique. To do this technique, you need a line art stamp (like 5th Avenue Floral) and either watercolor or shimmery white card stock. First, stamp your image in versamark. Heat emboss (I used winter white embossing powder). Then you will want to spritz with water until it puddles. Then take 2-3 colors of ink (a few drops on a plastic lid works great) and dip your aqua painter in the ink. Then touch the tip of the inked aqua pen to the puddles of water. The ink will spread and fill in each area of the embossed stamp. Let dry 20-30 minutes or dry with heat tool. Cut out the image and attach to your card.

Stampin' Up is also in a catalog transition period...The new catalog will be available July 1st! As always, there are stamp sets and accessories that will no longer be available once the new catalog is released. To see the last chance stamp sets and accessories, click here. Certain accessories and Decor Elements are 25-50% off.
There is also an awesome hostess special for the month of June: $20 additional free product with a party of $250 and additional $40 in free product with a party of $400.
If you are interested in purchasing these products or hosting a party in June, please contact me or order using my website.

This graduation card was using the owl together now stamp set. I added a graduation hat to the owl by drawing parenthesis and adding a straight line across the top using brilliant blue stampin' write marker. I colored in the area between the parenthesis and blended it with a blender pen. Then using the summer sun stampin' write marker, I added the tassel. Images © 1990–2009 Stampin’ Up!
